Hide N Seek
( Hide N Seek)
Czech Republic, 2019. 7 minutes.
On the background of a children's game there is a story about the flow and perception of time. To win the game, the young boy becomes an old man and his life shrinks to one hide and seek game. Poetic visions are created from the memories of childhood and they tell the story close to some adults.
Frédéric Schuld:
The Chimney Swift
Germany, 2020. 5 minutes.
19th century in Europe. A child climbs up a chimney while a bird sails down into it to build a nest. An encounter with no way back. A British chimney sweeper describes his everyday routine of forcing young kids to become workers. While we observe a kid cleaning a chimney, the master's statement gets more personal with every sentence until we understand that he is speaking about his own past.
Kaspar Jancis:
Cosmonaut
Estonia, 2019. 12 minutes.
An old Cosmonaut lives the same kind of life now in his flat in a concrete panel apartment building as he did in his youth in a space station. As before, he still carries out heroic missions and misses his close relatives, who he left behind on his home planet. His close relatives see the situation altogether differently. Is this old man capable of coming to grips with the norms that apply in society? A cosmonaut will always be a cosmonaut. To the very end.
Marine Blin:
What resonates in silence
(Ce qui résonne dans le silence)
France, 2020. 8 minutes.
Hiding death does not make it disappear. A little girl who suffered from the silence of adults felt dispossessed of her right to mourn. As an adult, she recounts the tender gestures that bind her to the dead.
