The awarded animations of the 10th TAFF

Here they are, this year’s TAFF award-winning films! A total of 10 awards were presented at Saturday evening’s award ceremony. The winning films impressed both the jury and the audience with their spectacular visuals and original storytelling.

GRAND PRIX

Dull Spots of Greenish Colours – Sasha Svirsky

“How did we get to the point we are at, how could this have happened? This film is searching for answers in a very unique way. Thanks to personal experience, a distinctive visual style and experimental animation the author takes us on a painful, deeply sad descent into a dissection of the abyss of the past. “

TOUGH EYE -AWARD

Pubert Jimbob – Quirijn Dees

“It is just an ordinary day of an ordinary man which turns out to be a journey during which the poor hero as well as the audience are lost and confused. On top of that 2D animation meets 3D here in the most bizarre and daring way.”

AUDIENCE FAVOURITE

Fish River Anthology (Mereneläviä)

BEST NATIONAL FILM

Dollhouse Elephant – Jenny Jokela

“Using a style that attacks all our senses, this film powerfully explores how we’re forced to interact with our neighbors and learn that community is built on understanding, not just living together.”

BEST PROFESSIONAL FILM

Dog Alone (Cão Sozinho) – Marta Reis Andrade

“Dealing with universal feelings of loneliness and empathy across different generations and species, the film scratches a trace of comfort on our retinas.”

BEST STUDENT FILM

Immature – Eddy Wu

“A brilliant cinematic portrayal of the development of a mind in its fragmented body, diverging in feeling and appearance. In this film we are witnessing a constant, at times painful approach of a young person to themselves.”
