About TAFF

Turku Animated Film Festival is an international film festival celebrating creativity and the art of animation.

After an exceptional edition of the festival last year, we are happy to tell you that Turku Animated Film Festival is coming up again in August 2022 with a seductive selection of animated shorts! The safety of visitors is our utmost priority and we’re working hard to ensure a safe and comfortable festival visit.

7th TAFF 2022

The seventh edition of the Turku Animated Film Festival will be held again in Turku, Finland, August 24-28, 2022, presenting dozens of screenings during five days.

TAFF seeks to promote animated film culture both in Finland and internationally. Our aim is to become one of the most important film festivals in Finland and to create a platform for encounters between filmmakers, industry delegates and local lovers of animation. We’re also interested in extending the concept of film screening and bringing together cinema and other forms of creativity as well as entertainment.

The International Competition, which is held again this year, bursts with original, bold, uncompromising and inventive animated shorts under 30 minutes in length. In addition, the festival consists of an alluring selection of carefully selected special programme.

All films that have dialogue in a language other than English are subtitled in English.

How to come visit us

TAFF takes place in a beautiful milieu, inside a restored old factory Manilla by the River Aura, at Itäinen Rantakatu 64, 20810 Turku. This cultural complex is approximately 2 km (1,5 miles) from the city centre. Screenings will be held in Aurinkobaletti’s Manilla-theatre and a theatre inside the over 150-year old, former liquor factory (Viinatehdas).

Manilla-theatre and Viinatehdas have disabled access. There is a disabled parking space in the yard and a moderate slope leads to Manilla-theatre’s entrance. Wheelchair accessible entrance can be used in Viinatehdas and there are ramps to move from one space to another. There is disabled toilet in both screening venues. Wheelchair spaces can be arranged in the audience.

The festival area can be reached by local bus in 10 minutes. Buses number 14, 15, 30, 55, 56 and P3 take you from the central marketplace, Kauppatori to the unmistakable bright yellow Manilla factory. If you decide to travel by foot, you can take a leisurely stroll down the River Aura all the way to the cultural complex, which is situated right by the river.
