Taffeli Screening and Workshop

This year, TAFF organises a generous amount of free pop-up events around Turku! Our Taffeli screening includes four international animation films. Lasting around half an hour, the show is suitable for all ages.

Under A Shooting Contrail (2022), directed by Rika Nakayama, marvels at the vastness and unexpectedness of the natural world around us. Trashball (dir. Ida Lepparu, Andrei Bljahhin, Sameliina Paurson, 2022) presents a tiny bug’s cleaning day. Huge hooves try to disrupt the work, but the bug won’t give up!

Fruits of Clouds (dir. Kateřina Karhánková, 2017) features Furry and his furry friends. They’re starving, but fear prevents them from looking for food further from home. Furry’s curiosity eventually overcomes the fear. There will also be soap bubbles, a Christmas tree and unexpected twists as BATTERY MOMMY (2023), directed by Seungbae Jeon, takes over the screen.

In the Taffeli workshop, participants will be able to animate and experiment with storytelling using moving image. The two-hour workshop will be held in Finnish and includes all of the necessary materials. The workshop will be led by Loes van Dorp, who also speaks English and Dutch.

The workshop is best suited for 5–6-year-olds and up. Animation requires some concentration and pre-planning skills. Our instructor is an experienced children’s workshop instructor and no prior experience of animation is required from participants.
