11. TAFF’S AWARD-WINNING ANIMATIONS!

At Saturday evening’s Award Ceremony, we were delighted to present a total of 10 awards. This year’s winners impressed both the jury and the audience and reminded us of what animation can be at its best: moving, insightful, playful and bold. The awarded films showcased distinctive voices, impressive craftsmanship and many unique ways of bringing the inanimate to life.

GRAND PRIX

Hunting – Lea Favre

Jury’s Statement: “An engrossing film which captured all of our attention as we follow the protagonists journey of finding an ideal subject. This animation cleverly played with the form of filmmaking and documentary whilst using a striking creative style. A disturbing turn leads to questioning who is really in control when we choose to observe someone else.”

TOUGH EYE AWARD

Once in a Body – María Cristina Pérez Gonzales

Jury’ Statement: “This film takes a bold, fearless approach to animation. The story is not always easy to follow, but the images are so strong and beautiful that they gave the jury goosebumps. Painting with paper and glass, the director turns memory and pain into something you feel, not just something you understand. For this brave, unforgettable vision, the jury gives the Tough Eye Award to Once in a Body.“

BEST NATIONAL FILM

A Body Without a Horse? – Lara Fuke

Jury’s Statement: “This film asks a simple but strange question: what is left of a body when something essential is missing? It turns that question into raw, black-and-white images full of absence, longing, and quiet strength, with a playful, clever spirit that makes the jury want to watch it again. It shows real skill and a clear, personal voice. For its confidence and its craft, the jury gives the award for Best National Film to A Body Without a Horse?“

BEST PROFESSIONAL FILM

Autokar – Sylwia Szkiłądź

Jury’s Statement: “A bus takes us on a ride to a time when imagination was so vivid and strong. We loved the films heartwarming tone and the lovely way of looking at the world through the eyes of child. “

BEST STUDENT FILM

Our Walls – Živa Divjak

Jury’s Statement: “In this film, we are invited into a touching conversation between a mother and her daughter. We were moved by the director’s sensitive portrayal of relationships across multiple generations, bringing their emotional dynamics to life with warmth and authenticity.”
