PROGRAM FOR TAFF 2026!

Dust off your dollhouses and fasten your seatbelts, the 11th Turku Animated Film Festival has announced its anticipated program of the year! At the end of August, Manilla Culture Factory and Art House Turku will once again celebrate the magic of animation with five days (August 26–30.) of world-class animated shorts, meet-and-greets, film discussions, and the perfect late-summer festival buzz.

This year’s lineup features over 130 films and 20 curated screenings of festival winners, quirky rarities, and fresh hits from near and far. Heart-pounding excitement is guaranteed by our highly anticipated international and national competition screenings, as well as eye-catching panorama screenings, fresh student productions, and the 20th-anniversary celebration screening of Turun Anikistit!

As always, children and the young at heart have their own parallel reality in the form of TAFF Junior, which offers screenings, workshops, and pure animation magic.

This year, the festival’s professional event, TAFF Pro, brings the worlds of stop-motion animation and puppet theater to the stage under the theme Animated to Life. The program includes lectures, portfolio coaching, and workshops where inanimate objects come to life in the hands of top international and Finnish creators. Professionals can apply for accreditation once the full 2026 TAFF Pro program is released in week 29.

“This year’s theme delves into the most fundamental aspects. In animation, inanimate images and objects come to life in the most interesting and unusual ways, much like in our close relative, the puppet theater. Putting together the competition programs was, once again, a difficult puzzle to solve. The goal is to offer a diverse overview of contemporary animation that challenges, amuses, moves, and confuses the festival audience in all the right ways.” says TAFF’s Artistic Director Joni Männistö.
